FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NASHVILLE, TN - The Music Valley area will be the setting for a Labor Day weekend event called 'Nashville's Rally FOR the Valley,' and this year there's added meaning. As many are familiar, this area along the Cumberland River suffered devastating damage during the historic flooding in May closing venues such as Gaylord Opryland, the Grand Ole Opry and Opry Mills.
The floods, along with the lingering effects of the deep recession, have created a challenging time for Music Valley merchants. So, in the great Nashville tradition, Music Valley is going to "put on a show." In fact, the 'Valley' is going to put on a lot of shows. It's being called 'Nashville's Rally FOR the Valley.'
Catherine Bach as "Daisy Duke"
"On Labor Day weekend, we are going to have wall to wall entertainment throughout Music Valley," says Ben Jones, whose "Dukes of Hazzard" museum, Cooter's Place, is one of the sponsors of the event. "My pal Catherine Bach, perhaps better known as 'Daisy Duke,' will be with us all day Saturday at Cooter's, meeting with fans and signing autographs."
Another highlight will be live entertainment throughout the 'Valley' on Labor Day weekend, including our 'Rockabilly Saturday Night' show at the Nashville Palace. Jones adds, "We'll have Cooter's Garage Band and some special guests, along with headliner Sleepy LaBeef, the legendary Sun recording artist and rockabilly icon." The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door.
LaBeef has received rave reviews through the years..... "Mr. Labeef is a living, breathing guitar-picking history of American music," according to the New York Times. The Tennessean said, "with a six-foot-six, 270 pound frame and a voice that can rattle windows, there are few who have ever forgotten the experience of seeing him perform.
